Show Document discussions in the document content

Based on this discussion, users are having a hard time commenting on the web specially, because is unconfortable not to have commenting right in the main panel.

I tested the commenting experience with a couple of friends and got some very interesting insights, some I expected and some I did not.

This was all web commenting.

On the desktop browser participants mentioned it was very uncomfortable not to have commenting just bellow the question on the main body and instead to the side window. 2 of the participants couldn't even use the commenting because they said that the side panel to comment wasn't there on the browser or they didn't see it.

On the desktop browser the participants didn't have much trouble when it came to commenting on a site hosted on seed hypermedia. The only thing that caused some friction was when they had to create an account.

On the desktop browser, in the case of trying to comment on a site that had a domain and diverts them to seed hypermedia when commenting, participants where discouraged from commenting. One of the key things mentioned is that it pulled them out form the context that made them want to comment in the first place and that the interface feels like they should be writing an essay. It seems that they want to read the content while they are commenting.

On the desktop browser participants mentioned that they where very confused by the fact that their text was focused after publishing and they could not read the other peoples answers.

On mobile participants mentioned that it was uncomfortable that they needed to open a side window to comment instead on doing it on the same screen.

Solution

we will add a new view value for the Embed block called Discussions. this will instead of showing the content or the document card, it will show what the Discussions panel shows currently.

Concerns

how can we create a embed of itself in a draft when the document is not published yet? how do we know the correct path/location before we publish?

how are we going to handle interactions inside this embed? if we follow the same pattern as the current embed, we should open the discussion panel in the current window.
