    I love this sort of dream but we have to be a bit more pragmatic as a company, focusing on the business growth and less on reinventing the paradigm. so we need to find another team or technical dreamer to bring this stuff to life

    focusing on the business growth and less on reinventing the paradigm (I'm being playful) real pragmatism would rig its inbox to discover its unknown unknowns… (I'm implying that's what this could enable? yes)

    @codeEric

    a document right now basically has an implied attribute of display: list. But if every block had coordinate values in 2D or 3D space, you could have something like display: graph and to create a more visual presentation system

    and there, so you've said it - it's as good as done

    I was going to ask if you had unlimited money, would you being writing the same thing?

    [12:15 PM]

    point is, what we're up to is better than being able to print unlimited money - it's creating a mechanism much higher in the value chain/stack (whatever you'd want to call it - mark that in your display graph): hypertext is a structure for language to alter other's perception of the world - aka, we're guiding each other's attention & it's only a matter of getting other's attention about what this shared enterprise opens up

    @codeEric

    interesting! It sounds like this could be implemented as a sort of new document or block type

    jeremyhelm — Today at 12:22 PM

    here's what I'm hearing - that such experimentation is already (probably) possible/practically enabled by the generalization within the data structure, thus enabling whole new modules to be attached to deal with new data types (which, once again, could have text/images, etc that can get sent back to the previous method of viewing - in that way being backwards compatible, like how the lightning network is to bitcoin {?! i'm not sure about this}, but not necessarily how Seed is a parallel system to the web… I'm getting lost in my own {lack of} ratiocination about encapsulation & derivative interpretive/display modules… but that could be because I'm stuck representing this in a skeuomorphic metaphor!)

    Yes even with unlimited money I’d say that growth is the most important thing. What’s the use in building a new communication system if it’s used by only a handful of people

    jeremyhelm — Today at 12:29 PM

    gosh, I wish you'd done that a reply…

    I still get the impression that you're in some sense unaware of the greatness/potential of your own product

    Anyways I’d prefer to have this conversation in a public form so others can participate

    okay - here's maybe one of the connections/assertions I'm making - there 'ought' to be a way in which these two things compliment each other (hence my 'inbox/unknown unknown' rhetoric): ie, like how the existence of lightning (& other layer 2's) strengthens bitcoin…

    you're tellin' me, bro

    that gets at the whole issue. gotta put that dog food … in the bike shed?
